For my Storytelling workshop, Colie gave us the assignment to turn a snapshot into a piece of art. We were asked to snap a picture in our home, without really thinking about light, composition, or the background. Then, we evaluated the frame, cleaned up the clutter, and told a story.
This small series has turned into one of my favorites that I’ve shot with Sean. I didn’t have to direct him to sit a certain way, put his hand here, smile, or anything. I just let him play. He had fun moving some blocks around and I was able to capture the essence of him.
These images are exactly what I want to be able to give to clients. I feel like this exercise helped me move a step closer to being able to do so.
